Perfect for burgers, pulled pork or any meal on a bun. Two hours from start to finish. Utilizing your oven as the perfect environment for proofing, these come together so quickly! Skip the grocery store ick- and prioritize homemade bread.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 3 Tbs honey
- 2 tsp dry active yeast
- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 Tbs softened butter
- 1 egg
- Egg and Milk wash before baking, sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Method
- Combine warm water and honey in a small bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top, do not stir to combine, allow yeast to bloom for 5 minutes.
- While the yeast is waking up, in a stand mixer with dough hook attachment add all-purpose flour, salt, and butter.
- After about 5 minutes and the yeast is bubbly and active, add yeast mixture and egg to the mixer. On a low speed, mix ingredients together until a loose dough forms. After everything is incorporated, knead on a medium low speed for 3-5 minutes.
- While the mixer is doing all the work, lightly oil a bowl and warm the oven for proofing. If your oven does not have a proofing function, hit warm and let it heat up for 5 minutes. I like to wave my instant read thermometer around in the oven to make sure its not too hot. 100-110 degrees is perfect.
- Remove your dough from the mixer and form a smooth ball then into the oiled bowl and to the oven to proof. Allow to rise for 40 minutes.
- Once your dough has doubled in size, turn out onto a floured surface and gently work into a disk. Divide into 8 pieces (16 for sliders) and form into a tight roll by folding the edges into the center and gently pulling the roll, seam-side down along the counter. (Less play-dough ball and more folding in on itself)
- Onto a baking sheet and left on the counter for the final rise. At this time preheat the oven to 375.
- After 30-40 minutes, lightly brush the tops with an egg and 2 Tbs of milk and then sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
- Bake a 375 for 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool before slicing. Enjoy!
